International Manpower Recruitment Pvt. Ltd. (IMR), one of Nepal’s leading manpower agencies, has been awarded the International Recruitment Integrity System (IRIS) certification by the International Organization for Migration (IOM). With this achievement, IMR becomes the first foreign employment company in Nepal to receive this globally recognized certification, joining a select group of agencies worldwide.

The IRIS certification is awarded to recruitment agencies that demonstrate a consistent commitment to fair and ethical recruitment practices. Speaking at a press conference held in Kathmandu on Monday, IMR’s Managing Director,  YB Rai, expressed pride in the recognition. “It is an honor to be certified under the IRIS framework by the IOM, which has evaluated and validated our adherence to disciplined, just, and ethical recruitment practices maintained over the past nine years,” he said.

Established in 2004, IMR has been deploying Nepali workers to various countries, including destinations in the Gulf and Malaysia. Since 2016, the company has transitioned toward a fair and ethical recruitment model. From 2018 onwards, IMR has implemented a transparent system in which all migration-related expenses are borne by the employer, ensuring that the recruitment process remains cost-free and fair for workers.

Since 2021, the company has actively participated in IOM-led capacity-building and training programs focused on ethical recruitment. After successfully completing all required phases, including a pre-certification audit, IMR was officially certified under the IRIS system in August 2023.

To date, IMR has successfully deployed over 18,000 Nepali workers to Malaysia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia under ethical recruitment procedures.

Sharing his experience, Mr. Rai emphasized that ethical recruitment not only ensures compliance with international standards but also fosters a transparent business environment, eliminates unnecessary complications, and brings social satisfaction. “Although there are challenges in promoting ethical recruitment in Nepal, IMR remains committed to continuing and expanding this model,” he added.

Mr. Rai also emphasized the role of government oversight, stating that strict monitoring and continuous improvements are essential to enhancing the credibility and reliability of ethical recruitment in Nepal.

IMR Director Mr. Pranaya Rai reiterated the company’s commitment to adhering fully to both national and international legal standards in the recruitment and selection of foreign employment candidates. He highlighted IMR’s dedication to upholding workers’ rights, ensuring fair competition, providing a safe and healthy working environment, enforcing contract compliance, guaranteeing the right for workers to retain their passports, and respecting workers’ freedom of movement and job choice.

In addition to its commitment to ethical recruitment, Mr. Pranay Rai noted that IMR continues to engage in various social and humanitarian initiatives as part of its corporate social responsibility. He stated that the success of workers recruited through ethical processes has served as a strong motivation for the company to further its mission.
