Kathmandu: International Manpower Recruitment Pvt. Ltd. (IMR) has objected to reports published by some media outlets about the company, challenging them to make public evidence substantiating the allegations made against the recruitment agency.

IMR Chairman YB Rai, in a press statement, claimed that the reports linking the company to various allegations were baseless, unverified and one-sided. He called on the concerned media outlets to make public the sources and evidence behind the reports.

According to Rai, some media reports have alleged that employees of an international organization were involved in the “marketing” of IMR and that there was an attempt to facilitate certificates for the company.

Rai challenged the concerned media outlets to make public any official documents or verified records supporting such allegations.

“If there is evidence to substantiate the allegations made against us, let it be made public. If there is no evidence, the baseless reports should be corrected immediately,” Rai said.

Rai claimed that IMR has been operating on the basis of its own professional capacity, experience and performance and has been sending a large number of Nepali workers abroad for employment, including to Malaysia and other countries.

According to him, IMR has prioritized ethical recruitment practices and claims to be the first manpower company in Nepal to receive IRIS certification.

Objecting to the allegations against the company, Rai also challenged the claim that representatives of international organizations were involved in marketing IMR.

“Linking our success to the alleged ‘marketing’ or influence of any external individual or representative of an international organization is baseless,” he said.

IMR also questioned the journalistic practices of the concerned media outlets, claiming that the company was not given an opportunity to present its official response before the reports were published.

Rai said the company had repeatedly attempted to contact the concerned media representatives to understand the basis of the reports and present its position, but claimed that its response was not sought.

IMR said it respects press freedom but argued that repeatedly publishing unsubstantiated allegations and one-sided content without seeking the response of the concerned party goes against the principles of responsible and impartial journalism.

The company has urged the concerned media outlets to make public the evidence behind the allegations, correct any inaccurate content and publish IMR’s official response with due prominence.

IMR has also warned that if its demands are not addressed, it may pursue necessary legal and regulatory procedures to protect the company’s reputation and rights.

“IMR believes in facts, evidence and transparency. We challenge anyone to substantiate the allegations made against us,” Rai said.
